Sometimes, the configuration settings get automatically removed from the device after the update process. Before updating the firmware of a Dlink router, users are advised to create a backup of the current configuration settings so that they can easily restore those settings to the router. You can use the Backup feature to create a backup of the settings and make sure to keep it from somewhere you can easily access it. Both the backup and restoration process is done through the dlinkrouter.local interface
