started business 1992, over a quarter of a century ago.

Business has been tough for all book stores, more especially since the coming of Kindles and other e-books

Temple Books has had several owners. But in 2002 it started a successful ecommerce website selling text books for schools and universities. The business was sold in 2005. It has had three owners since then, the last owner telling us in 2018 that he had closed down the book shop.

Text books included Science, Mathematics, Geography, Business, Law. English, Nursing, Arts and many other non-fiction books..

So Platypus Websites then took over the domain name and web hosting and started this new website.

We have eCommerce with a database of titles and authors, These can be ordered on this website and delivered to your door.

We are gradually adding more books from many publishers.
But if we are not showing the book you want, just email us and we will get back to you with price and availability. We can have it delivered direct to you, anywhere in Australia or overseas.

We have had great success in selling books from other websites. One example is www.gadimirrabooka.com for the book of Australian Aboriginal Stories – Gadi Mirrabooka. The first edition was published in 2001 by Libraries Unlimited of the USA – now a division of Heinemann. It has had several reprints since then. Sales are still increasing each year in both Australia and the rest of the world, almost a generation after it was first published.
