Mr Tiew Han studied medicine at the University of Adelaide and graduated in 1991.
He worked as an intern and surgical resident at the Royal Adelaide and the Queen Elizabeth Hospitals in Adelaide.
He undertook training in neurosurgery at Flinders Medical Centre, The Adelaide Children's Hospital, Royal Adelaide Hospital and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
In 1995 Mr Han moved to Melbourne and continued training at St Vincent's Hospital and Monash Medical Centre. He was awarded FRACS in 2000.
Mr Han worked as a senior Neurosurgical Registrar in St Vincent's Hospital in 2000 before undertaking further post graduate training in Western General Hospital Edinburgh, a major neurosurgical centre in Scotland.
He worked under the supervision of Professor Ian Whittle, a world-renowned brain tumour specialist. He also gained vast experience in spinal surgery working with Patrick Statham and Tom Russell.
