Diane and Keith opened their first Hobby Shop in 1986 in the Sefton Plaza shopping centre. It was there that they started to run Saturday afternoon races with remote controlled cars in the car park of that shopping centre. From there they moved the Hobby Shop to the current venue at main North Road, Blair Athol.

Racing was still a big part of the weekends and it was from that new location that they started to rent the car park of the RSL on Way Street Kilburn. The racing was then called ‘Whip around Way Street’ (some of these racers are still racing today), but due to the larger groups of racers they were forced to find larger premises once again.

From Way Street they moved to the Pooraka markets, but traction was a huge issue and scouts were out looking for a new location.

The Parks Community Centre was available on Saturdays so in conjunction with MRCCA they rented the track on Saturday nights. This racing continued until 20 years later when they purchased the old Marshall Furniture Office building.

After 7 months of long days and nights the Melrose Park Hobby Centre was opened.

The long term staff Ashleigh, Trent, Sean, Keith and Di are all part of a growing team of twelve staff members.

Our Melrose Park store offers slot car racing, bring your car in and for $5.oo you can spend the rest of the day racing on any of our seven tracks

Our aim has always been to provide our customers with the best possible service and after sales service for all the products we sell.
