Wining and Dining > Restaurants, Cafes and Bars
In Greek culture, food is more than just nourishment. Hospitality is embedded within every Greek person's DNA. Dining is a cultural experience that brings together friends, family and even strangers. To share a meal, share a story, share a moment and discuss the future.
And where better to do that than in the magnificent garden courtyard of Melbourne’s Hellenic Museum.
Grounds of Arcadia’s aim is to inspire cultural dialogue. Its location certainly helps. Housed in an award-winning, architecturally designed structure resembling a silver cube that takes many different forms as it responds to Melbourne’s ever-changing weather, Grounds of Arcadia connects the modern to the past. It takes inspiration from the treasures and history that lie within the former Royal Mint building and provides an experience steeped in Greek culture.
From sipping a simple glass of wine from the slopes of Mt Olympus to experiencing a curated degustation in an immersive gallery featuring the mythical work of Bill Henson.
Working closely with the Hellenic Museum, Grounds of Arcadia wants you to enjoy the richness and vitality of Hellenic culture, but first, savour a glass of an indigenous Greek wine varietal and whet your appetite with a meze. Then let the Greek journey begin.
